MARSUP: SIATT and the Brazilian Navy sign agreement for air-to-surface missile development studies

3 March 2026 – SIATT Engenharia, Indústria e Comércio S.A., a Brazilian company recognized as a reference in precision-guided munitions and smart weapons systems, and the Brazilian Navy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct joint studies and exchange technical information aimed at the cooperative development of two Air-to-Surface Anti-Ship Missile systems, designated MARSUP.

The document was signed last Monday, February 23, by Vice Admiral Carlos Henrique Zampieri, Director of the Navy’s Weapons Systems Directorate (DSAM), and by Rogerio Salvador, President of SIATT. The signing ceremony took place at the Directorate’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, RJ.

The initiative represents a strategic step in expanding the national missile family, leveraging technology that has already been tested and validated. In the medium term, the project is expected to contribute to strengthening Naval Power by providing the Force with a domestically developed air-to-surface missile incorporating a high degree of national technological content.

The focus of the studies is to assess the adaptation of the technology already consolidated under the MANSUP (Surface-Launched Anti-Ship Missile) program to equip aircraft assigned to the Navy’s Naval Aviation Command. The objective is to technically validate the evolution of this capability, expanding the system’s operational employment through an air-launched variant.

According to SIATT President Rogério Salvador, the agreement consolidates the company’s position as a supplier of complex strategic systems aligned with national sovereignty objectives.

“This protocol marks a tangible advancement in the evolution of a capability built over many years by the national defense industry. It demonstrates the technological maturity achieved by SIATT and, above all, the expertise of our team, which has played a leading role in executing strategic programs and delivering critical solutions for Brazil’s Defense,” he stated.

The MANSUP, which serves as the technological baseline for the development studies of MARSUP, is one of the flagship strategic programs of the Brazilian defense industry. Developed under the leadership of the Brazilian Navy, the missile consolidates key national capabilities. Fully compatible with modern naval platforms such as the Tamandaré-Class Frigate, the system positions the country among the select group of nations capable of designing and manufacturing contemporary anti-ship missiles, now serving as the foundation for the evolution of a broader family of domestically developed weapons systems.
