Canada invests in the future of HF communications with Rohde & Schwarz solutions

Ottawa/Munich, August 4, 2026 – In September 2025, the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) selected Rohde & Schwarz Canada to provide modern 10kW HF transmitter systems, with an expedited delivery schedule. Rohde & Schwarz Canada successfully delivered all products in March 2026, achieving this ambitious deadline on time, closely following another critical DND project to deliver modern 1kW HF systems earlier in 2025. This series of on-time deliveries and subsequent local support activities helps to solidify Rohde & Schwarz Canada’s position as a trusted partner for secure and reliable communications solutions.

Rohde & Schwarz was selected based on the superior technical performance of its solutions and demonstrated overall total cost of ownership through a highly competitive procurement process. The awarded scope includes state-of-the-art receiver/exciters from the R&S M3SR Series 4100 family driving its powerful R&S SK4110 10kW amplifier systems that utilize an innovative liquid-cooled system to ensure optimal performance and superior reliability, even in demanding operational environments.

“We are incredibly proud to have been chosen by the Canadian DND to provide these critical HF communication capabilities,” says Rob Reilander, President & CEO, Rohde & Schwarz Canada. “This win underscores our commitment to delivering robust, future-proof technology that meets the evolving needs of modern armed forces.”

The Canadian DND is responsible for system integration across various platforms and facilities, with installation and training support from Rohde & Schwarz Canada and its partners. These systems support a variety of applications and protocols including crucial data communications via STANAG 5066, modern wideband waveforms, ALE4G, and others.

Rohde & Schwarz Canada remains strongly committed to the support of DND modernization efforts with industry-leading technologies and services, while continuing to expand its local presence in Canada.
