► Eurenco announces the acquisition of Thiot Ingenierie and strengthens its expertise in the field of fast dynamics and shock physics
Sorgues, France, December 19, 2024 – The EURENCO Group, European leader in energetic materials for defense and security, today announced the acquisition of THIOT INGENIERIE, a French company specializing in impact technologies, ballistic testing and materials engineering.
This acquisition is part of EURENCO’s strategy to broaden its ballistic engineering portfolio and diversify its innovation capabilities in advanced technologies for defense, aerospace and security. This acquisition will enable EURENCO to reinforce its expertise in the field of impact, with unique capabilities in hypervelocity impact testing and simulation of material behavior under extreme stress.
THIOT INGENIERIE specializes in shock physics and fast dynamics, and is based in Puybrun, near Brive-la- Gaillarde. Its activities are divided into three areas
- Supply of special machines for autofrettage of artillery and tank tubes, with a reputation as a specialist in a niche technological market.
- Supply of test benches for high-speed impact testing and dynamic material characterization, including detonation chambers and laboratory gas cannons.
- Supply of expertise in the impact behavior of inert or reactive materials and structures, including impact tests, characterization tests and associated computer simulation.
Today, 70% of the company’s sales are exported, and three-quarters of its business is in the defense sector. Its customers include such industry heavyweights as Airbus, Hyundai, Leonardo, the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), MBDA, Junghans and Safran.
Thierry FRANCOU, Chairman and CEO of the EURENCO Group, commented: “We are delighted to welcome THIOT INGENIERIE to the EURENCO Group. This strategic acquisition reflects our commitment to innovate and strengthen our skills in critical technologies for our customers, while consolidating our position as leader in energetic materials for defense.”
For Patrick THIOT, Founder and Chairman of THIOT INGENIERIE, “the transfer of our company to the EURENCO Group is justified by the technological and organizational synergies already envisaged between the two companies. We are proud to be joining the EURENCO Group, which will consolidate the long-term future of THIOT INGENIERIE through sustained research in pyrotechnics and, more generally, in all its activities related to shock physics”.
