Safran consolidates its presence in Colombia with the first ARGONYX sale for OPV.
December 03, 2025 – Safran Electronics & Defense is a long-standing and trusted partner of the Colombian Armed Forces, notably through high-performance land-based solutions that contribute to national defense and security. In a milestone of strategic significance, Safran Electronics & Defense and the Colombian shipbuilder COTECMAR formalized their partnership last March on the innovative ARGONYX INS program.
This initiative embodies a shared vision of innovation, resilience, and local value creation. The equipment, set for delivery by the end of the year right after ExpoDefensa, will be installed on Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) fleet, enhancing navigational precision and operational readiness while reinforcing the country’s maritime sovereignty. ARGONYX and other equipment will be on display at ExpoDefensa, taking place from December 1–3 in Bogotá, Colombia.
Building on this solid foundation, “Safran reaffirms its commitment to supporting Colombia’s strategic autonomy and technological sovereignty by fostering sustainable industrial cooperation across the region”, highlighted Fernando Rocha, Business Manager for Latin America at Safran.
For instance, its engagement in Colombia reflects a broader vision for Latin America, where Safran Electronics & Defense continues to expand its footprint through strategic partnerships and industrial cooperation. Across the continent, Safran solutions are strengthening the upgrading and autonomy of several armed forces.
In Brazil, Safran contributes to the Gripen fighter program with innovative systems, while also supporting the Army’s land navigation modernization efforts. In Peru and in Chile, Safran has established a deep collaboration in submarines programs and defense electronics, promoting local capabilities and technology transfer.
Through these initiatives, Safran demonstrates its long-term commitment to innovation, operational performance and industrial development.
Its participation in ExpoDefensa 2025 underscores its ambition: to collaborate closely with its regional partners to increase defense capabilities, deepening cooperation, and promote sustainable technological growth throughout Latin America.
