DEFEA 2025 – RT LTA Systems and Creomagic unveil SkyCnet, a persistent ISR network and more

Paolo Valpolini

“One of the major problems in the field is to describe to the soldiers the situation around them,” Rami Shmueli, RT LTA Systems CEO explains to EDR On-Line. The company, active in the aerostat field, decided to team with Creomagic, an expert in secure and real-time tactical communications, to overcome this issue

The solution is to bring a camera and a radio relay at altitude over the battlefield in order to create a communications bubble in which soldiers can receive real time visual intelligence, the radio network not only relaying video images but also ensuring full communications within the soldiers. “The idea is that the camera can be turned towards the target, relaying the images to the soldiers, allowing them to focus on the mission, also generating a fully private network,” Alex Shapochnik, the Cremoagic CEO, tells EDR On-Line. The system obtained coupling an RT tethered aerostat with a Creomagic personal radio and a was named SkyCnet.

Ot is proposed for lower echelons, hence a mobile solution was needed, RT ensuring this with its SkyStar 120, a micro-tactical aerostat with a 3.4 metres diameter, capable to operate at a maximum altitude of 300 metres (1,000 ft) with an endurance of up to 8 hours, and can withstand winds up to 35 knots. The SkyStar 120 can be easily fitted onto a trainer of on an all terrain vehicle, which allows to quickly deploy it virtually on any terrain, being therefore capable to operate even with light infantry units. It can be airborne in 15 minutes and can carry a 4 kg payload.

Within this limit the company packs a day/night stabilised camera system and a Creomagic CreoHub radio. This is available in two configuration, CreoHub Light and CreoHub Pro, with respective power of 1 W and 10 W, and throughputs of up to 20 and up to 80 Mbps. They operate in UHF, L-, S- and C-bands, with AES256 encryption, and can operate for up to 12 hours with a single battery, a dual battery version being also available. Respective mass is 430 and 620 grams, well withing the SkyStar 120 payload limit.
