Unveiled in 2021 by the Egyptian Ministry of Military Production, the SENA 200 infantry fighting vehicle is now in full production at the Egyptian Tank Plant 200. Based on the same chassis the MOMP is designing the other members of the SENA family, and at the Cairo exhibition it unveiled the recovery variant, known as SENA EGS-806

The vehicle exhibited in the Hall 4 of the Egypt International Exhibition Centre (EIEC) was the prototype of the new variant that will provide a recovery capability to the Egyptian Army mechanised infantry battalions equipped with the SEDA 200.

The recovery variant maintains the five-roadwheel chassis with front sprocket and rear idler, suspensions being based on torsion bars with shock absorbers. Egypt selected steel tracks, with rubber pads to reduce wear and tear on paved roads. The 15.2 tonnes vehicle is powered by a 6-cylinder HD12 ZLG-M air cooled turbocharged diesel engine providing 385 hp at 2,000 revolutions per minute, allowing a maximum speed on road of 65 km/h, and off road of 45 km/h; range without refuelling at cruise speed is 500 km.

Mobility performances allow the recovery vehicle to cope with 60% slopes, and to travel on 30% side slopes; it is capable to ford a 0.7 metres deep water obstacle, its minimum turning radius being 12 metres. The SENA EGS-806 is 6.1 metres long, 3.04 metres wide and 1.8 metres high.

The vehicle hosts a three-man crew, driver, commander and operator, who are located in the front part of the protected compartment, protection being declared at Level 3 according to STANAG 4569, one level less than the combat vehicle.

A crane allows to lift up to 2 tonnes, sufficient to replace the SENA powerpack. The crane can rotate on 360°, maximum arm length being 3.65 metres, and at EDEX it was visible with a powerpack payload. According to information gathered at EDEX, EDR On-Line understood that the powerpack would not be carried by the recovery vehicle itself, another vehicle being needed to deliver it here needed. For recovery purposes the SENA EGS-806 is fitted with a pulling winch capable to pull up to 15 tonnes on a direct pull, which become 30 tonnes doubling the cable using a pulley, the total length of the cable being 42 metres.

MOMP is currently awaiting the contract to launch full production of the SENA EGS-806, no numbers being mentioned. EDR On-Line understood that the Egyptian state company has also developed the mortar-carrier variant, which however was not exhibited at EDEX.
