LIMA 2025

The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition, better known as LIMA, has established itself since 1991 as one of the major defence, aerospace, and maritime events in Asia-Pacific. The 2025 edition, the 17th of its kind, opened from 20 to 24 May on the island of Langkawi, Malaysia. According to figures provided by the organisers, the exhibition hosted a record number of 512 exhibitors, 500 foreign delegations from 25 countries and 200,000 visitors, including trade visitors from all over the world.

The opening ceremony was presided by the Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who underlined that LIMA 2025 was not just a technology showcase, but also a symbol of Malaysia’s determination to play a leading role in security, innovation, and international cooperation in Asia. The ceremony was marked by a series of flight demonstrations, Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) flypast with three F/A-18D Hornets, three Sukhoi SU-30MKMs, six Pilatus PC-7 MK IIs, two A400Ms, three C130Hs and eight helicopters, illustrating the power and diversity of the Malaysian fleet. On the naval side, the Royal Malaysian Navy, featuring fast boats and jet-skis from the maritime security forces, underlined Malaysia’s ability to secure its strategic waters.

A rich programme of conferences and forums took place at the show, addressing strategic themes, while Security Seminar analysed geopolitical trends, hybrid threats and maritime sovereignty issues in the Indo-Pacific.

The inauguration of LIMA 2025 marks a new stage in the history of the show, confirming its status as a global crossroads for innovation, strategic dialogue, and industrial development. Thanks to the diversity of its exhibitors, the wealth of its demonstrations and the quality of its exchanges, LIMA is establishing itself as a benchmark event, opening opportunities for Malaysia and the entire Asia-Pacific region.
