Navantia shortlisted to provide CMS for Miecznik frigates
27 September 2021.- Navantia has moved to the next stage in the tender for the supply of the combat management system (CMS) for future frigates of the Polish Navy, along with three other contenders.
Navantia has been shortlisted as a potential partner of the PGZ-MIECZNIK consortium for the development of the Combat System for future Miecznick frigates. Navantia has presented a proposal based on its CATIZ Combat Management System (CMS) developed by Navantia Sistemas.
In this stage, Navantia Sistemas will develop a CMS proposal that integrates the sensors and weapons systems that best suits the requirements of the Armaments Inspectorate of the Polish Ministry of Defence. The decision on the contractor is expected in 2022.
The Miecznik program launched by the Polish Government envisages the construction of three multi-mission frigates at the local PGZ shipyard in Gdynia through a Technology Transfer (ToT) contract with an international company. Navantia has also been shortlisted for the construction of the ship, with a proposal based on the F-100.
Navantia has presented its products and services and its experience in systems integration and Technology Transfer participating for the first time at the MSPO defense fair in the city of Kielce this September.
The Miecznik frigate construction program is part of an ambitious plan launched by the Polish Government to modernize its Armed Forces with an investment of 115,000 million euros until 2035.
