Poland declares Integrated Battle Command System fully combat-ready
Warsaw, Poland – Dec. 18, 2025 – In a major milestone for the Northrop Grumman Corporation-developed (NYSE: NOC) Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS), Poland’s Ministry of National Defense has declared Full Operational Capability (FOC) for its IBCS-enabled WISŁA medium-range air defense system. This makes Poland the first U.S. NATO ally to fully operationalize IBCS, significantly enhancing NATO’s eastern flank with advanced, integrated air defense capabilities. This achievement follows a successful international live fire test showcasing IBCS’ ability to engage and intercept airborne targets.
Poland’s WISŁA program is now combat-ready, featuring two IBCS-enabled adapted Patriot sensors and launchers capable of detecting and engaging threats such as missiles and aircraft through multi-sensor data fusion. The milestone reflects strong U.S. and Poland defense cooperation, with Polish crews trained and certified to operate the system.
What’s Next
- IBCS enables Poland to be interoperable with U.S. and NATO systems establishing a layered air defense network, enabling real-time multi-nation threat tracking and strengthening collective defense across allied territories.
- The next phase of the WISŁA program will expand IBCS to include eight batteries of adapted Patriot equipment, incorporating additional launchers, interceptors, and advanced radars to deliver a comprehensive, national-scale air and missile defense capability.
- Polish industry will continue to have a significant role to include greater local assembly, maintenance, and production contributions, enhancing Poland’s self-reliance while boosting the potential for defense exports to international partners.
