Successful firing from SİPER long-range air and missile defense system

January 05, 2026 – The acceptance test for the battery delivery of SİPER 1, which is Türkiye’s nationally developed and indigenous long-range area air and missile defense system operating in a distributed architecture under the Steel Dome air defense concept was conducted at the Sinop Test Center, located in northern Türkiye.

The test was executed under a demanding operational scenario in which maneuvering friendly and hostile aircraft were simultaneously present in the airspace, thereby validating system performance under realistic conditions.

With this firing, the acceptance activities covering the battery elements of SİPER 1 were completed. The battery-level elements consist of the Fire Control Center, the Fire Control Radar, the Missile Launching System, and the Missile. With its extended range, high precision, and advanced system architecture, SİPER represents a key component of Türkiye’s integrated air and missile defense capability.

With this battery-level firing, which was conducted without the Fleet Control Center and the Search Radar, ASELSAN’s capabilities in terms of radar technologies, command and control, and fire control were successfully tested. The system’s long-range interception capability was verified, and its operational maturity was confirmed.
