► Sisu Auto and Valmet Automotive have signed a cooperation agreement to begin collaboration on military vehicles and their components.
December 17, 2025 – “Sisu Auto’s record-high demand and order backlog, along with an expanding product portfolio, require a significant increase in production capacity. Capacity will triple over the next two years as the company’s growth plan progresses. To achieve this, Sisu Auto needs reliable and skilled manufacturing partners alongside its Karjaa production,” says Tomi Gardemeister, CEO of Sisu Auto.
Sisu Auto is responding to the growing production need by contributing to the support and development of Valmet Automotive’s domestic large-scale vehicle production capacity. The goal of the cooperation is to provide diverse work opportunities for Uusikaupunki’s automotive production professionals in the manufacturing of SISU GT- products, including vehicle assembly and component logistics tasks. At the same time, Sisu Auto emphasizes its nearly century-long commitment to ensuring the continuity and development of Finland’s transport equipment industry.
The company will also continue significant investments in Karjaa production. “Our own production plays a crucial role in ensuring quality, delivery reliability, and the continuity of domestic expertise,” says Petri Kananen, Development Director at Sisu Auto.
“The employment impact of military vehicle production is significant; for example, one SISU GTT vehicle, which is about 65% domestically produced, represents more than one person-year of work. The additional capacity of up to 300 vehicles to be quickly established in Uusikaupunki will create employment for approximately 300 people,” states Timo Korhonen, Chairman of the Board of Sisu Auto.
