Aero India 2025 – L&T MBDA Missile Systems Ltd
L&T MBDA Missile Systems Ltd, a collaborative venture between Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and MBDA, was founded with the purpose of developing and supplying missile systems to the Indian Armed forces. The joint venture is set to concentrate on opportunities within the missiles and missile systems sector, pursuing prospects under the Buy (Indian-IDDM), Buy (Indian), and Buy & Make (Indian) defence procurement categories
The joint venture is anticipating to develop and supply new projects including vertically launched short range surface to air missiles (VL SRSAM) and fifth generation anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM5). L&T and MBDA have collaborated on the co-development and production of significant subsystems, incorporating intricate technologies and sophisticated weapon systems such as MICA missile launchers and airframe segments, including control actuation units for orders from the Indian Ministry of Defence.
MBDA`s long-term strategy to make in India was the catalyst, solidifying ongoing discussions between L&T and MBDA, leading to the final steps in creating the L&T MBDA Missile System Limited joint venture to deliver projects under the new Defence procurement procedure (DPP). L&T is a leading private sector company in India’s defence industry, equipped to produce the high-tech guided weapons and systems that the Indian Armed Forces require. MBDA has expressed that its strategy for India involves being viewed as a close business partner to the Indian defence sector and end-users, rather than simply a seller of defence equipment.
L&T MBDA Missile Systems Limited is ideally positioned to offer India superior technology via IDDM, “Buy (Indian)”, and “Buy and Make in (Indian)” channels. This provides India the flexibility to select capabilities and delivery times, while also optimising the acquisition and mastery of advanced guided weapon systems technologies. The joint venture is actively addressing several requirements of the Indian Armes Forces.
VL SRSAM is a latest generation naval air defence system, proposed to meet the requirements of the Indian Navy for highly robust protection from all forms of naval attack.

It is a fifth-generation multi-target land combat weapon, designed for land combat and urban warfare and corresponds to the requirements and specifications of the Indian armed forces. It guarantees Indian the highest level of operations independence in its use, and offers to it a mounted and dismounted forces the best weapon in the class.
If uses fifth-generation breakthrough technologies, can eliminate a range of targets, while offering a high level of launch flexibility, including launch from a portable firing post. It has a maintenance-free missile and a stabilized automatic turret with four ATGM 5 missiles ready to fire. The missile is under a protective cover and remotely controlled.
