Aselsan’s Yildirim 100 successfully deflects infrared-guided missiles

Ankara, 4 July 2025– ASELSAN has successfully completed the test of YILDIRIM 100 Directed Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM) System, deflecting live infrared-guided missiles equipped with warheads. This successful test demonstrated ASELSAN’s unique ability to protect airborne platforms.

ASELSAN, Türkiye’s leading defense company, continues to advance the protection of airborne assets with cutting-edge, indigenously developed technologies. With the successful testing of YILDIRIM 100, Türkiye has reached a new level in laser-based countermeasure capabilities, an area mastered by only a handful of nations worldwide.

During the test, YILDIRIM 100demonstrated its ability to neutralize infrared-guided missile threats by directing multi-band laser energy at their seekers. As a mission-ready solution for modern air combat environments, YILDIRIM 100will act as a force multiplier on the battlefield with low power consumption and high operational availability.

Capable of detecting, tracking, and neutralizing multiple threats simultaneously, YILDIRIM 100system uses multi-band laser technology to jam and dazzle the seekers of infrared-guided missiles, ensuring effective self-protection for rotary and fixed-wing aircraft. Its dual-turret design, advanced sensors, and integrated control unit enable fast, synchronized responses and flawless communication with missile warning systems. Fully compatible with various platforms, YILDIRIM 100is optimized to counter both current and emerging missile threats.

Commenting on the achievement, ASELSAN President & CEO Ahmet Akyol stated: “With the successful test of YILDIRIM 100, we take great pride in advancing our country’s air defense capabilities to the level of the world’s leading nations. As we celebrate ASELSAN’s 50th anniversary, this achievement reflects the strength of our indigenous technological excellence and our unwavering commitment to innovation. We will continue to develop game-changing systems that meet the evolving requirements of the modern battlefield.”
