FIA2024 – Embraer successes at Farnborough
Hot on the signing of a contract by the Dutch Ministry of Defence for nine Embraer C-390 Millennium multi-mission transport aircraft at FIA2024, Embraer announced the sale of six A-29 Super Tucano aircraft to the Paraguayan Air Force (FAP). The contract, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2025, includes mission equipment and an integrated logistics services agreement
The first C-390 contract was a joint purchase, in co-operation with Austria for five aircraft for the Royal Netherlands Air Force and four for the Austrian Air Force as part of enhanced tactical airlift capacity project.
The joint purchase will allow both nations to benefit from training, logistics, together with other NATO C-390 operators. The types primary roles are those of transporting and drop troops and cargo, medical evacuation, search and rescue and humanitarian missions. The C-390 can be configured with air-to-air refuelling equipment to operate as a tanker and as a receiver, using pods installed under the wings. This option has not been specified for either the Dutch or Austrian Millenniums.
