General Dynamics and KONGSBERG Announce Stryker Lethality Partnership
SAFRAN
14/10/2019 – General Dynamics Land Systems and KONGSBERG announced this week an exclusive partnership to pursue the U.S. Army’s next phase of Stryker lethality improvements and production.
The Army Requirements Oversight Council decided in the spring to apply the 30mm Medium Caliber Weapon System (MCWS) to the Stryker A1, which is more mobile and better protected and serves as the basis for the future Stryker fleet. The Army has decided to outfit three brigades of Double-V Hull Stryker A1 Infantry Carrier Vehicles with 30mm turrets. Responding to an urgent operational need in 2017, General Dynamics Land Systems and KONGSBERG rapidly developed a Stryker with a 30mm turret for the U.S. Army’s 2nd Cavalry Regiment in Germany. Based on 2CR’s feedback; General Dynamics Land Systems and KONGSBERG have made key upgrades to the system, and if selected, anticipate equipping the first brigades as early as fiscal year 2022.
