IMDEX 2025
The IMDEX 2025 opening ceremony, presided over by the Minister of State for Defence, Mr Zaqy Mohamad, underlined the importance of this event in fostering dialogue and international cooperation in the face of growing security challenges in the region.
IMDEX Asia 2025, which took place in Singapore from 6 to 8 May 2025 at the Changi Exhibition Centre, represented a major milestone for the maritime industry and maritime security in the Asia-Pacific region. Now in its 14th year, the biennial event attracted more than 12,500 participants from over 70 countries, reaffirming its status as the world’s leading platform for innovation, cooperation and strategic dialogue in the maritime sector.
The event welcomed more than 230 exhibiting companies from 26 countries, including industry leaders such as MBDA, Lockheed Martin, Safran, Leonardo, Fincantieri, Saab, Rolls-Royce and Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, IAI and Rafael ST Engineering, as well as newcomers specialising in artificial intelligence and autonomous systems, underlining this year’s focus on disruptive technologies and the digital transformation of the sector. National flags from countries such as Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Singapore and the United States strengthened their presence, demonstrating the international commitment to maritime safety and innovation.
The opening ceremony brought together 56 official delegations, including navy chiefs, coastguard directors and heads of maritime safety agencies from more than 35 countries, most of them also taking part in the International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC), a key forum for addressing geopolitical challenges, regional cooperation and maritime security.
Among the highlights, a fleet of 17 warships from 13 nations was on display, allowing visitors to discover the latest advances in naval design and operational capabilities, with iconic vessels such as HMAS Arunta (Australia), HMS Spey (UK) and JS Yahagi (Japan). The participation of the Sri Lankan Navy, with the SLNS Samudura, illustrates the diversity and international scope of the event.
IMDEX Asia 2025 has established itself as a key forum for exchanges between decision-makers, manufacturers and experts, fostering the creation of strategic partnerships and the emergence of innovative solutions in a rapidly changing maritime environment. The sheer scale of the show, the richness of its programme and the quality of its speakers confirm Singapore’s central role as a global hub for naval defence and maritime security.
