MILEX-2025 – Rostec presents new IGLA anti-drone cartridges
At the MILEX-2025 international exhibition of arms and military equipment, the Rostec State Corporation presented specialized IGLA anti-drone cartridges. These are actively used against drones in the Ukrainian theater of military operations
EDR On-Line previously reported on Russian anti-drone cartridges, but in Minsk a new line of these cartridges designed to destroy small drones was presented for the first time. Among the products shown were IGLA 30, 50, 100 and Tracer 75, the latter of course providing tracer effect. The number indicates the maximum range of target destruction. For the convenience of users, each cartridge is made in a casing of a certain color.
As EDR On-Line learned at the exhibition that specialized IGLA cartridges can penetrate drones to the motherboard. When hit, the propellers and battery are also damaged, and the pellets can pass through the supporting frame. In some cases, drones started smoking and caught fire after being hit.
According to a company representative, the striking elements in the cartridge consist of an alloy containing tungsten, nickel, and iron. This makes the pellets harder and heavier, which allows for maximum damage to the target. In addition, when the ammunition is fired the spread is minimum, which increases pellets density in front of the target.
Currently, to combat small drones in the Ukrainian theater of military operations, Russian troops use hunting rifles and specialized cartridges in 12/70 and 12/76 calibre that have demonstrated high accuracy in hitting low-flying mini-UAVs and FPV-drones.
