On November 1st Streit Group hold the groundbreaking ceremony for the Phase-3 Expansion of its Ras Al Khaimah facility in the United Arab Emirates.
The UAE-based armoured vehicles production facility was inaugurated in 2007, and was capable producing 500 units per month. Phase 2 followed, adding an armoured glass factory as well as a research and development centre and a spare parts distribution centre. This was completed in 2015 bringing the covered area up to 86,500 m2.
Phase 3 will nearly double that surface, adding 68,000 m2 subdivided into six buildings. “One building will host the laser robots for cutting steel,” Guerman Goutorov, the company CEO explained during the ceremony, “The expansion of our facility also allowing us to split the work between steel parts production and assembly, the latter going to be organised on two lines.” This should further increase the facility production capability. “We are also increasing our Streit marine facility so now we will have the capability to produce 20 meters long boats,” Goutorov said.
One of the new buildings will be dedicated to the production of rolling chassis for commercial and logistic vehicles. To further enhance the company Research and Development capabilities this department will be hosted in a new first class building. “We are also establishing a Training Academy for our own staff and for anybody else who wants come and study with us,” Streit CEO stated. Marketing is not forgotten, a new showroom hosting all the products manufactured by Streit being also part of the new project. “That is really a huge step forward,” Goutorov concluded, explaining that when Phase 3 will be inaugurated, the Ras Al Khaimah facility will be completed. Asked about potential contracts that might see the plant involved in the near future, Goutorov expressed his optimism for a bid currently undergoing with Brazil.
