Nexter promotes VBCI for UK Army’s Mechanised Infantry Vehicle programme, at the 2017 International Armoured Vehicles conference – Twickenham
Nexter Systems, the leading French land defence systems company part of KNDS Group, will showcase the 8×8 “VBCI” during the 17th Annual International Armoured Vehicles Conference at the Twickenham stadium in London from 23rd to 26th of January.
Nexter’s offer for the MIV (Mechanised Infantry Vehicle) programme is VBCI. VBCI is a low-risk and cost effective solution. It represents an optimised balance between protection, mobility and growth potential and is designed to meet evolving operational challenges over the next 30 years. VBCI is a modern and combat proven MOTS (Military Off The Shelf) platform that entered service with the French Army in 2009. Over 600 have been delivered, and VBCI has now earned an enviable reputation as the principal combat platform of the French Army during all its recent expeditionary campaigns. From Afghanistan to Mali, VBCI’s reliability, protection, mobility and crew comfort has been affirmed under the most demanding operational environments. As part of Operation SERVAL, VBCI spearheaded the projection of French Forces into MALI over 2400 km in 4 days.
VBCI has been engineered from mature COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) technologies to deliver inherent reliability, thereby maximising operational autonomy and minimising its cost of ownership.
As a European defence industry leader, Nexter is looking forward to developing a sustainable and efficient UK based supply chain, strengthening its local content with the support of UK industry. Nexter is committed to provide the best platform in its class to the British Army.
