EDEX 2025

On Monday, 1 December 2025 Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt and Supreme Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces inaugurated of the Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX 2025), which took place as usual at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) in New Cairo.

Entering the exhibition area, visitors were welcomed by the first batch of locally produced K9A1 EGY self-propelled howitzer together with its accompanying reloading and command and control vehicles. Produced under licence from Hanwha of South Korea, these SP howitzers incorporate two thirds of Egypt produced components. Aiming at increasing its independence from foreign defence products, Egypt has also started producing 155 mm artillery ammunition.

Numerous new weapon systems were unveiled by the Egyptian State-owned companies, while new privately owned Egyptian industrial players appeared with huge stands, exhibiting many products produced under agreements with foreign companies, but also locally designed systems, the aim being to increase the latter share.

Agreements were signed with many international players, among the major ones that with Norinco of China, which multiple rocket launcher system is at the base of the new Egyptian RADA 300 MLRS, and that with Dassault, for local production of Rafale subcomponents.

Overall the four halls at EIEC hosted some 450 companies, including 25 national pavilions. Hereafter EDR On-Line readers will find a selection of articles on new systems unveiled at EDEX 2025.
