IDEF 2021

Planned for late May 2021 but moved to the right due to COVID considerations, the 15^th edition of IDEF 2021, the biennial International Defence Industry Fairs organised in Turkey, initially in Ankara and since 2009 in Istanbul, was inaugurated on August 17^th at the TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center by the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

According to organisers some 1,000 national and international companies gathered in Istanbul to showcase their products and technologies, with over 400 official delegations expected to visit the exhibition premises.

All main Turkish defence programmes are being exhibited at IDEF, from the new fighter to the Altay MBT, the national industry taking the opportunity of this event to unveil numerous new products, while a number of signing ceremonies related to contracts as well as partnership are expected to be signed during the four days of the show, which will end on August 20^th.

International participation is also consistent, Turkey being definitely a key customer for many major defence producers.
